Evan Turner

Evan Turner has started 31 games this season for the Blazers, who used him as the starting small forward when Maurice Harkless lost his spot in the rotation.

In 31 games as a starter, Turner is averaging 9.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 46.5 percent from the 3-point line.

With Lillard out, Turner could start the shooting guard or point guard spot. He is a reliable ball-handler and could take over Lillard duties in that way. McCollum then doesn’t have to be the primary ball-handler the entire time he is on the court.

Turner is a bigger guy and is a better defender than Lillard. Pairing him up with Aminu and Harkless creates a big, good defending team around scorers like McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic.

Turner is in no way the offensive player Lillard is, but he is no slouch on that end. Turner can create his own offense, score driving to the basket, execute on post-ups and is excellent from the mid-range. He is not the most outstanding shooter from the 3-point line, but since the All-Star break, Turner has been shooting the ball better. The Blazers can run the offense to work to Turner’s strengths while he is on the floor.
