2. Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz

Last week: 2nd (↔)

Donovan Mitchell stays steady at No. 2, even after defeating the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night. Mitchell put up 21 points and six assists in a 110-91 victory for the Utah Jazz, but the Warriors were without Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

The Jazz are in good shape in the playoff race but in terms of Donovan Mitchell in the Rookie of the Year race, he’s still playing second fiddle to Philadelphia 76ers’ rookie Ben Simmons. That’s not to take away from what Mitchell has done this season though.

His scoring has been his strong suit this season. He put up 35 points last Friday night against the San Antonio Spurs, although it came in a 124-120 overtime loss. Mitchell has scored 20 points or more in six straight games and counting for Utah.

Mitchell and the Jazz are 11-2 as March comes to a close. They’ve reached new heights after the tough offseason they had in free agency.
