Here are five takeaways from the New York Knicks’ recent five-game homestand.

The New York Knicks recently wrapped up a five-game homestand at Madison Square Garden. Wins have been difficult for the Knicks to come by, but they were able to get a few during the homestand.

The Knicks went 2-3 on the homestand, winning the last two games. At this point in the season, that is something that may actually upset some Knicks fans who are dreaming of ping pong balls and the NBA Draft Lottery.

In the first three games, the Knicks were handled easily. The Toronto Raptors blew them out 132-106 to kick things off. A loss to the tanking Dallas Mavericks followed in the second game before New York blew a big lead to the Philadelphia 76ers in Game No. 3.

With how well the Knicks played against the 76ers, it is no surprise that they picked up two victories to wrap up their homestand. The competition wasn’t great in those final two games.

New York demolished the free-falling Charlotte Hornets before taking on another team playing for ping pong balls in the Chicago Bulls. Chicago put very little effort into winning the game, as their top three scorers, Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen and Kris Dunn, all sat out along with Robin Lopez.

The Knicks would benefit from some extra ping pong balls, but they are not taking the same extreme measures that other teams are. As a result, they finished the homestand 2-3 and in the ninth spot in the NBA Draft Lottery — the same spot they were in when the homestand began.

While the wins don’t mean much in the long run, there are still some takeaways from the games. Here are five takeaways from the Knicks’ recent homestand.
