The Portland Trail Blazers’ winning streak ended at 13 games. What can they do to start up another big run before the season ends?

The Portland Trail Blazers lost to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, 115-111. The backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum wasn’t very dynamic, combining for 28 points on 9-for-32 shooting, including 0-for-12 from 3-point range.

The loss ends an impressive 13-game winning streak for the Blazers. It enters the record books tied for the second-longest winning streak in franchise history. The run began on Feb. 14 with a 123-117 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Portland would actually defeat Golden State a second time during the streak, downing them 125-108 on Mar. 9. They also picked up big wins over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers along the way.

The Houston loss may have broken the hearts of Blazers Nation. However, there are still games – and potential wins – left on the regular season schedule. Portland’s next matchup sees them hosting the Boston Celtics – the second-best team in the Eastern Conference – on Friday night.

After that, Portland has road games at the Thunder (Mar. 25) and New Orleans Pelicans (Mar. 27). It should also be noted that the Blazers play the Rockets one more time on April 5 in Houston.

So what can the Portland Trail Blazers do to kick off a new streak? With 11 games remaining, they can’t replicate the success of their 13-game run. However, another big streak would solidify their standing as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and set the tone for the type of contender they want to be in the playoffs.
