Late into the 20th season of his Hall-of-Fame career, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki remains a solid FanDuel NBA roster option.
Dirk Nowitzki may no longer be the cornerstone for FanDuel NBA rosters, but he remains an intriguing value play for fantasy lineups.
The 39-year-old forward has delivered eight performances with 25 or more fantasy points in FanDuel NBA tournament play in the past 13 games and is still one of the most consistent power forward options.
Only his output hasn’t produced the most important outcome for the Dallas Mavericks — victories. Dallas has won just four times during the past 10 contests, securing a losing season in consecutive years for the first time since Nowitkzi’s first two years in the league.
After averaging 20 or more points for 13 seasons in his career, Nowitzki is posting just 12.3 points per game, his lowest scoring output since his debut season in 1998-99.
If Nowitzki maintains his average of 12.3 points per game over the final 12 games of the year for Dallas, he will finish the season with 1,000 points for the 17th time in his career.
In league history, only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and Tim Duncan have posted 1,000 or more points in 17 different years. Nowitzki is looking to snap out of a tie with Kobe Bryant and John Havlicek for the fourth-most 1,000-point scoring campaigns.
Much of his success can be attributed to his increased accuracy from 3-point range. Nowitkzi is connecting on 42.7 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc, tied with Jayson Tatum for the ninth-highest percentage in the league and the highest conversion rate of his career.
For any FanDuel NBA roster in search of a bargain option at the forward position, Nowitkzi is worth considering, especially with averages of 18 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 made 3-point field goals the last two times he has faced the New Orleans Pelicans.
