13 games: Dec. 3-30, 2007

The 2007-08 season marked the beginning of the resurgence of Blazers basketball. Rip City had endured three seasons of below-.500 production. Now, they were looking to turn things around with new blood. Portland picked up LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy in the 2006 NBA Draft and acquired Greg Oden first overall in the 2007 NBA Draft.

Portland actually struggled out of the gate, going 5-12 in the first 17 games of the campaign, but a 106-105 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies set a 13-game winning streak in motion.

With Oden out the entire season due to microfracture surgery for his right knee, it was Roy and Aldridge leading the way. Roy averaged 22.8 points, 6.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game during the streak.

Meanwhile, Aldridge put up 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in only eight appearances. He had to miss five games mid-streak due to plantar fasciitis. However, he put up solid production in the games he managed to play.

Unfortunately, the Blazers couldn’t keep the same energy the rest of the way. Portland went 5-2 immediately following the streak. After that it finished the year by going 18-27, settling on a 41-41 campaign.

Portland missed the playoffs in 2007-08, but that season laid the groundwork for three consecutive postseason berths in subsequent years.
