March 5. Los Angeles Lakers

Dame Dolla put up 39 points, shot 12-of-25 from the field, made six of 11 attempts from the 3-point line, and chipped in six assists and five rebounds in 39 minutes.

This was a close game until the third quarter when the Blazers only scored 15 points, and the Lakers scored 25.  Portland was starting to let this game slip in L.A., but then Damian Lillard went full MVP mode in the fourth and put the Blazers on his back.

In the fourth alone, Lillard had 19 points, went 5-of-7 from the field and made four of his five 3-pointers.

The Blazers were down 91-97 with 4:44 left in the game. Lillard put 15 points in 3:06, including four 3-point shots in a row to give the Blazers a 108-103 victory.

Without Lillard’s fantastic fourth quarter, the Blazers’ winning streak would have been halted at six games. They would have fallen right back into the tight playoff race instead of grabbing the third spot in the West. Lillard’s game-saving performance got attention from all over the NBA. People finally started adding his name to the MVP discussion.
