New York Knicks: 5 prospects to watch in 2018 NCAA Tournament East Region
4. Vicent Edwards, Purdue
Another area of need for the Knicks is on the wing. Right now, that is where they have the least depth on the roster. It could be an area that the Knicks look to, as they could really use a combo forward. The NBA Draft has plenty of prospects that fit into that mold. One player they could consider in the second round is Vincent Edwards.
Edwards is finishing up his career at Purdue as a senior. He plays a style of game that is ideal for today’s NBA. One of his best attributes is the versatility that he brings.
Edwards is capable of playing and defending multiple positions. At 6’7” he can defend on the perimeter and on the inside, depending on the matchup. Adding more strength will be a necessity if he is going to succeed at the next level at power forward.
Offensively, Edwards is versatile as well. He can succeed as a slasher and has improved his 3-point shot. He shot 39.2 percent this season but was over 40 percent the previous two seasons. What teams will really like is his playmaking ability. Edwards averaged at least 2.7 assists in each of his four seasons at Purdue.
Given his skill-set, Edwards is a great fit for the current landscape of the NBA. His versatility would be an asset and would be a worthwhile gamble with a second round selection.
