Here are five prospects the New York Knicks could consider from the 2018 NCAA Tournament’s East Region with one of their draft picks.

The New York Knicks are playing out the stretch run of the 2017-18 season without much success. With star power forward Kristaps Porzingis going down with a torn ACL, wins have been far and few in the Big Apple.

Porzingis went down on Feb. 6 against the Milwaukee Bucks. It seems every bad injury to Knicks’ big men happens against the Bucks, as Patrick Ewing also suffered a bad injury against them. At least when that happened, the Knicks had enough to still compete and qualify for the postseason. Without Porzingis, the playoff hopes of this year’s team went out the door as well.

Since that injury, the Knicks have played 12 games without Porzingis. They have won only once. The Knicks weren’t playing great prior to Porzingis going down, as they were in the midst of a losing streak. However, with him, there was still some hope that they could make a late-season run. Without him, those hopes were dashed.

If there is any positive to the Knicks losing games, it is that they can improve their spot in the NBA Draft Lottery. That is not something that usually excites New York fans, but they actually have their first round pick this season. In addition to the lottery pick, they have two picks in the second round, one of which is from the Chicago Bulls and should be near the top of the second round.

Many people’s attention involved with the Knicks, including their fans, have turned to the 2018 NBA Draft. We will hear about a ton of prospects that the team is considering, and the best chance to see some of those prospects is in the NCAA Tournament.

With the 2018 NCAA Tournament right on the doorstep, with play-in games beginning Tuesday night, fans will get excited to see some players that could be on their favorite NBA team come the summer time.
