Mohamed Bamba, PF/C, Texas

I know adding a big man isn’t necessarily ideal here. The Cavaliers already have Love at power forward, although he seems to be perpetually on the trade block. Tristan Thompson‘s contract allows him to hog minutes at center, and Larry Nance Jr. picks up the leftovers.

However, if Mohamed Bamba is available when Cleveland picks, can they really pass on a truly unique frontcourt talent? I mean, there’s a reason he’s earned the “unicorn” label reserved for players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kristaps Porzingis.

Seriously, Bamba does just about everything. He’s a defensive nightmare for opponents, using his ridiculous 7’9″ wingspan to alter shots and rack up blocks at a consistent clip. It’s not just the defense, though — the Longhorns’ superstar freshman is an explosive offensive weapon who could be a three-level threat if his 3-point shot develops as expected.

Whether he’s throwing down a thunderous dunk or sending a shot into the stands, Bamba is a treat to watch. Based on what we’ve seen so far, he has the potential to be the best player to emerge from the 2018 draft class.

I know Thompson’s contract sucks and Love demands minutes, but drafting Bamba is too tempting of an opportunity to pass on. If he’s still available when it’s time for the Cavaliers to make their pick, they better run to turn in their draft card.
