Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose has signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the remainder of the season. Does this move really help their cause in the playoff race?

The 2017-18 NBA campaign has proven to be full of twists and turns for the former MVP Derrick Rose. Looking for yet an opportunity to rejuvenate his career, Rose signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the veteran’s minimum.

As it turned out, the move wasn’t a positive one for either side. Rose appeared in just 16 games for the Cavaliers, posting averages of 9.8 points per game on 43.9 percent shooting from the field and just 25 percent from 3-point range.

Not only that, Rose sustained yet another injury that caused him to take a hard look at his future to decide if he wanted to continue to play in the NBA. Although Rose did return to the Cavs, he was eventually dealt to the Utah Jazz, who then waived him, making him a free agent.

The chances of Rose landing with a team this season appeared to be slim….until now.

As first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Rose has signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the remainder of the season.

Does this really help the Timberwolves as they look to earn their first playoff berth since 2004? Here’s a look at the most notable takeaways from this move.
