The partnership journey

DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry were on their way to finishing a path of an underrated, but overall disappointing tenure. It would not be the first time a talented duo succumbed to the pressures of beating an all-time great.

Lost in playoff failure has been the story of Lowry and DeRozan. One surviving Compton, and the other surviving the doubts that come with being an undersized NBA guard.

To make matters even more difficult, they came together on the Toronto Raptors, a team more known for stars eventually leaving than ones committing and winning long-term. When things get hard in the Six, most leave for greener pastures.

Both DeRozan and Lowry, however, stayed in the toughest of times — times in which no one could have blamed them for leaving. That is what you call integrity, and it seems to have spread throughout the team and the much maligned coaching staff. Perseverance rings true with every success story, and could be the telling tale of the Raptors. Or maybe just another fun McDonald’s story.
