Rationale:

  • Since the All-Star break, New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis has been the most dominant player on the court and in FanDuel NBA leagues. The 24-year-old has propelled himself into the MVP conversation by carrying New Orleans to seven consecutive wins and posting averages of 37.8 points, 15.8 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 steals per game since All-Star weekend. A three-day layoff since his last game makes Davis an even more intriguing roster option for Sunday night.
  • The ability to set up teammates for open looks has allowed Ben Simmons to separate himself from the rest of the NBA’s rookie class. Simmons is averaging 7.4 assists per game, the most among all first-year players, and has dished out seven or more assists in seven consecutive games. The presence of Simmons has enabled Philadelphia to average 25.6 assists per game, the third-highest mark in the league and an increase of 1.8 assists per game from last season.
