If dreams really do come true, the Boston Celtics could find themselves landing one of these stars when 2018 NBA free agency gets under way.

Every offseason, speculation seems to run rampant regarding superstars scheduled to hit free agency. Although something rarely comes of it, it’s always tempting to imagine which of the NBA’s top talents could decide to find themselves new homes.

In the case of the Boston Celtics, there are a number of top talents who could theoretically sport the green and white when the 2018-19 campaign tips off. At this moment, though, those potential signings are nothing more than pipe dreams. And yet, who said dreams can’t come true?

That’s why we’re here today — to look at a few dream scenarios for the Celtics during 2018 NBA free agency. With an already loaded roster, an outstanding head coach and plenty of future assets to work with, there’s no denying Boston is a place stars wouldn’t mind taking their talents to. There are obvious concerns about the salary cap, though.

Now in this situation, I’m taking a look without regards to the salary cap or even player interests. These are just guys who would be excellent additions to the Celtics’ roster. However, for the sake of argument, let’s look at a few ways Boston could create some significant cap space.

According to Spotrac.com, they’re currently over the cap by $6.4 million. In order to make some room, though, they could move someone like Al Horford, who is scheduled to count for $28.9 million against the cap in 2018. Other options could be trading players like Jaylen Brown or Marcus Morris. It wouldn’t be easy, but general manager Danny Ainge is a clever guy.
