Rationale:

  • Not only are the 15.7 rebounds per game Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond is averaging the most in the league, if he maintains his pace through the end of the year, he will finish with the highest average in the past 21 seasons. If Drummond pulls down 10 or more rebounds Friday night against the Boston Celtics, a team he has averaged 18.5 rebounds against this season, he will continue the longest double-digit rebounding streak of any player this year.
  • An 11-assist night from Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic will be enough to boost his averages into extremely rare company. Jokic is averaging 16.9 points, 10.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. If he is able to elevate his average to 6.0 assists per game, he will join Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird and Kevin Garnett as the only only players 6″10″ or taller to average at least 10.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.
