Carmelo Anthony, SF, Oklahoma City Thunder

For much of the previous offseason, it seemed like Houston was going to be Carmelo Anthony’s new home. All of the rumors indicated the Rockets and New York Knicks had been hashing out a deal, but nothing ever came to fruition.

Now, Anthony is enjoying a solid season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Unfortunately, the OK3 hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, winning far too inconsistently. The lack of depth probably isn’t helping the Thunder either, but we certainly haven’t seen the domination many expected from this squad when Carmelo was acquired.

As a result, I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony opted out of his deal and looked elsewhere during free agency. With his time in Oklahoma City hypothetically over, why not take his talents to the team that wanted him so bad this offseason?

The Rockets would love to add another top scoring threat to their lineup. He’d be a huge upgrade over Ryan Anderson, who let’s say falls out of the picture one way or another. Anthony can fill the power forward role, serving as the explosive offensive threat in the frontcourt that Clint Capela simply isn’t.

Anthony would cost an arm and a leg for Houston to sign. However, in this dream scenario, he makes perfect sense as the latest addition to one of the NBA’s rising juggernauts.
