2018 NBA Draft: The best NBA team for each top prospect
By Max Holm
Jaren Jackson Jr. – Phoenix Suns
Jaren Jackson Jr. has a strong case as a top-five pick as one of a slew of potential unicorn big men. Unlike his peers, Jackson is a lot less potential at this point. He’s already shown that he can protect the rim, defend in space, pass and shoot. The two best spots for him are likely similar to Mohamed Bamba and DeAndre Ayton. Jackson could thrive in Dallas, Boston and Chicago, but the Phoenix Suns may suit him best.
Phoenix likes to play fast, but they desperately miss a defensive anchor. Jackson could provide that without jeopardizing spacing or pace. He’d also allow them to switch on defense, which is useful with so many forwards. As Devin Booker continues to shine as one of the league’s best young scorers, Jackson could benefit from the looks Booker gets. Phoenix’s front office is really hit or miss, but with Booker and a ton of exciting young forwards, the Suns are enticing to say the least.
