2. Allow John Collins additional time on the court
The Atlanta Hawks have a promising young piece in forward John Collins.
The 19th overall selection of the 2017 NBA Draft is rapidly proving to be one of the most exciting pieces of the organization, as he is averaging 10.2 points on 58 percent shooting from the field, plus 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
For all of his individual success, Atlanta is playing Collins just 22.3 minutes a night, the 13th-most among all first-year players.
Collins has started just five games for the Hawks, as Ersan Ilyasova, an unrestricted free agent this summer, has been in the starting lineup 40 times.
The minutes distribution has been essentially equal, with Ilyasova spending 25.5 minutes a game, but Collins should supplant him in the starting rotation.
Atlanta clearly views Collins as a long-term piece of the franchise, with only a limited time remaining this season, an adjustment to the starting lineup and his place in the rotation should be made.
