Atlanta Hawks: 5 post All-Star break storylines to follow
4. Figuring out vital pieces moving forward
Perhaps the best aspect of the Atlanta Hawks’ roster is its flexibility.
Newly hired general manager Travis Schlenk wanted to assemble a roster with plenty of freedom to rebuild over the next few years. With several members of the team playing on expiring contracts, Atlanta has the ability to dramatically alter the makeup of the organization for next season.

The reshaping of the roster has already begun, with Luke Babbitt being traded to the Miami Heat in exchange for Okaro White and Marco Belinelli having his contract bought out last month.
Several other players are uncertain to remain with the Hawks, as Malcolm Delaney and Ersan Ilyasova are playing on expiring contracts, while the combination of Dewayne Dedmon and Mike Muscala possess player options for the 2017-18 season.
Dedmon could command much more than the $6.3 million he would receive from Atlanta in the open market next summer, after posting 10.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on 55.7 percent shooting from the field in his first season a full-time starter.
The Hawks have $71.6 million committed for the 2018-19 season and with the foundation of the organization in question, the team could be in for a dramatic overhaul this summer.
