If cap space wasn’t a concern, which 2018 NBA free agents would the Cleveland Cavaliers view as dream additions during the upcoming offseason?

The Cleveland Cavaliers face a handful of daunting tasks this offseason. From trying to retain one of the greatest players in league history to looking for ways to create some breathing space under the cap, this front office has its work cut it for itself between 2018 NBA free agency and the 2018 NBA Draft.

However, what if the Cavaliers weren’t held back by luxury taxes or the salary cap? What if they had the money and charisma to acquire whichever 2018 free agents they had their eyes on? I know that sounds a lot like a fantasy world, but that’s exactly the scenario I’m trying to conjure here.

In this alternate reality, Cleveland could sign whoever they wanted without having to worry about the salary cap. They’re currently in a bind financially, but that could change this offseason if LeBron James decides to jump ship. Even if he doesn’t, it would simply provide them with the opportunity to add another dominant playmaker who can help win the King another ring.

So let’s take a trip to a place where dreams come true and look at a few 2017 NBA free agents Cleveland would love to sign this offseason. Sure, they aren’t all logical targets for this team, but that doesn’t mean we can’t imagine a world in which things can work out.
