Underperformer: Memphis Grizzlies

It seems the Memphis Grizzlies are no better off since firing head coach David Fizdale back in November. Fizdale was fired after the team fielded a 7-12 record in the early goings of the regular season. They began the season 5-2 in October.

Since then, Memphis has gone 11-26 and remains winless in the month of February (0-6). The Grizz have lost seven games in a row and counting. With an 18-38 record overall, they are leaps and bounds a different squad than the one they had a season ago.

The front office recently dropped the ball with trading swingman Tyreke Evans, who’s having a career season as well. After benching Evans on Jan. 29 in hopes of trading him at the NBA Trade Deadline, no move was made. Considering Evans will be a free agent this summer, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. He was certainly hoping he was traded to a playoff team this year, but to no avail.

It will be an interesting offseason for the Memphis Grizzlies, that’s for sure. They’re roughly 12.5 games back of the eighth playoff spot in the West with no sign of things getting better anytime soon.
