J.R. Smith ($4,800)

Considering the Cleveland Cavaliers turned over about half of their roster, it’s ironic that J.R. Smith is the one to rely on for DraftKings daily fantasy. But like most players moving around during the trade deadline, it takes a couple of days until we see those players at full capacity on the court.

Soon, the likes of Jordan Clarkson, Rodney Hood and George Hill will definitely eat into J.R. Smith’s minutes, but Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks, none of them will be playing. On top of none of them playing, the Cavs are now without Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and Iman Shumpert, all rotation guys. The Cavaliers are as bare as a team can be for this game (so bare they managed to get Kendrick Perkins back in the league).

J.R. Smith hasn’t played particularly well this year with the amount of minutes he’s been getting, but the last two times he’s played over 30 minutes in a game he’s churned out 28.25 and 34.0 fantasy points.

Smith is a player who might be better the longer he’s on the floor. It’s well-documented that once he finds a groove he’s an unstoppable scorer. With the lack of roster flexibility, Smith will be getting huge minutes, meaning there’s a strong chance he outperforms this number.
