With the Eastern Conference up for grabs, the Washington Wizards might look to hedge their future in order to make a win-now move. Here are three potential options.

For the last few years in the NBA, the trade deadline has been an insanely hectic day. It’s the day where teams deal players away for assets and others use it to try and give their teams that final push into the playoffs by any means necessary.

The Washington Wizards haven’t had any crazy movement at the trade deadline in some time, but they are frequently active. If last year is any indication, the team is clearly willing to hedge future assets in an attempt to give themselves a better chance at making the Finals.

Why wouldn’t they make a win-now move? The East is as vulnerable as ever with the Cleveland Cavaliers struggling to work things out post-Kyrie Irving. The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors both look great, but they shouldn’t stop teams from trying to make it to the Finals.

In the light of this, it’s time to take a look at three trades the Wizards could make in an attempt to improve their team in the immediate future. Some of them are based off of players rumored to be on the trade block, while others might just make sense considering the team.

Two of the three trades are focused on the Wizards giving up their 2018 first-rounder, which is always a tough pill to swallow as a franchise. But if the Wizards are serious about making a run to the Finals, these trades might be able to help them get there.
