Heading into the 2018 NBA Trade Deadline, no team was more desperate to make moves to appease its star than the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s safe to general manager Koby Altman got the memo.

With LeBron James set to enter free agency again this summer and the Cavs in a tailspin, the front office had a ton of pressure to rejigger the roster around the King, while still holding on to assets that will help them rebuild should he abdicate his throne this summer.

After being pressured into the Kyrie Irving trade last summer, Altman has now been forced to make another move — this time dealing away the key piece Cleveland received in the Irving swap in the first of a series of dizzying but ultimately impressive moves.

As first reported by ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers have agreed to send Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and their own 2018 first round draft pick to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, they will receive bench dynamo Jordan Clarkson and the uber-athletic Larry Nance Jr.
