Washington Wizards: Will they make a move at the 2018 NBA Trade Deadline?
The Washington Wizards are typically busy when the NBA Trade Deadline approaches. It seems things are no different this season, but will they make a move?
The Washington Wizards are a little busy during the 2018 NBA Trade Deadline. That’s no surprise for those keeping up with the franchise. Last season, they acquired Bojan Bogdanovic just as the deadline approached. Bogdanovic, although a temporary rental, did well, averaging 12.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game off the bench.
The Wizards looked to be in need of a new face or two to help improve things this season, until John Wall went down with a knee injury on Jan. 27. Since then, the Wizards have gone 5-1. They snapped a five-game winning streak in a 115-102 loss on Tuesday night to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Although the loss snapped their winning streak, the Washington Wizards have gotten some big contributions recently from Otto Porter Jr., Markieff Morris, Tomas Satoransky, Mike Scott and Kelly Oubre Jr.. Their emergence has been a breath of fresh air for a young club that’s gotten All-Star performances from both Bradley Beal and John Wall this season.
Porter is averaging 18.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals across the last six games. Morris has upped his play as well, averaging 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals in the last six contests. He’s showing that he may back to full health since beginning the season with an injury.
Satoransky, Scott and Oubre have given the Wizards’ bench unit life in Wall’s absence. Satoransky is putting up 9.2 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals through the last six games. Scott is the team’s fourth-leading scorer (12.2 points per game) through the last six games.
Oubre isn’t shooting the ball particularly well, but he’s still averaging 10.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game since Wall has been sidelined this go-round. Recent happenings beg the question: Will the Wizards make a move before the NBA Trade Deadline?
