6. Jarrett Allen, Brooklyn Nets
Last week: 10th (↑4)
Brooklyn Nets center Jarrett Allen makes the biggest jump in this week’s NBA Rookie of the Year ladder as he continues to impress. His contributions aren’t necessarily showing up in the win column, but they’ve been hard to ignore nonetheless.
Allen is averaging 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds on 76.5 percent shooting in Brooklyn’s last four games. He recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in their last victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. Five of his 12 rebounds came on the offensive end. He put up a career-high 20 points in a 102-99 loss to the Lakers last Friday night.

Allen looks like a double-double machine waiting to happen so far this season. He’s tallied only two double-doubles this year, but with a push in the right direction, more are on the horizon. As he begins to become more of a focal point on offense, look for Allen’s potential begin to show. Brooklyn is in a position to give him a lot of minutes going forward.
