Boston Celtics: 3 deals for the 2018 NBA Trade Deadline
The 2018 NBA Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, and it’s time of the year where teams are making one last push to reach the end goal: winning a championship. Here are some trade ideas that the Boston Celtics should consider.
The Boston Celtics are in first place in the Eastern Conference, and it looks as if they have a legitimate chance at winning a championship. That is, of course, if they can get past heavy favorites, the Golden State Warriors.
Looking at possible obstacles in the Eastern Conference playoffs, of course, includes the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors. Those look to be the hardest matchups moving forward for the Celtics if they are able to advance to that point. The Cavs have been a team with a roller coaster of up and downs, but never underestimate LeBron James in the playoffs.
While the Celtics have looked good this season, there have been a few hiccups in the road. There have been three things that have really slowed down the team’s success, those being scoring, bench output and injuries. Injuries are nothing you can really fix as it’s more about luck. But the good news is that the Celtics can add more depth to their bench — depth that can hopefully help them fix their issues in the scoring department.
On the other side of things, the team doesn’t want to forfeit any long-term success for one season. The team has plenty of assets, but are their assets worth sending away? The answer is no. The team has a lot of young talented players that should develop into good-to-star players in the near future. A lot of these trades are not going to be franchise-changing players, but instead players who are cheap and of value to the bench.
After adding Greg Monroe on the buyout market, the Celtics will continue to look for help.
The Celtics bench ranks 23rd in the NBA in bench scoring, which is not something a team can continue to sustain overtime if they expect to make a deep run towards the finals. If the Celtics are to make any moves before the Feb. 8 trade deadline, they more than likely won’t be blockbuster deals. Without further ado, here is a look at four trades that can help the Celtics’ issues moving forward.
