2018 NBA trade value rankings, Part 2: 21-40
In Part 1 of our 2018 NBA trade value rankings, we looked at the bottom half of the 80 best assets in the league. Here’s the bottom half of the top 40.
Welcome to Part 2 of the official rankings of the top 50 trade assets in the NBA.
Is it official because I’m the only one doing it? Absolutely. Are you still allowed to tweet me about what an idiot I am for not having your favorite player high enough? Heck yes! Just make sure you follow this format:
“Hey [expletive deleted]. I’ve forgotten more about the NBA than you know in your left/right [insert body part]. Go back to [insulting activity] and stop pretending to know stuff. PS: The Knicks suck.”

Before we move on to No. 40, a here’s quick refresher on the rules:
- The higher the player, the less likely it is that his team would trade him. If John Wall is No. 18, he is a better asset (by these rankings, at least) than everyone else from No. 19 down.
- These rankings aren’t done in a vacuum. Everything matters — salary, age, contract length, team situation — the whole shebang.
- Last, but most important: This is an imperfect science, and because everything matters, it can lead to some tricky conclusions. The Wizards probably wouldn’t trade John Wall for Donovan Mitchell because Wall gives them a better chance to win in the immediate future (although lately even that might not be true), but the Jazz wouldn’t even listen after they realized what Washington was calling about.
That’s about it. Without further adieu, here are players 40 through 21, starting with one of the more difficult players to rank, if not the toughest of them all…
