2018 NBA Draft big board: End of January

21. De’Anthony Melton – USC
Despite being ruled out for the season by USC amid the FBI’s probe into bribes in college basketball, De’Anthony Melton is a first round prospect. A lot will come down to how he would fair in workouts and interviews, but his freshman year had scouts paying attention already. That lack of playing time, though, drops him down five spots.
Melton is a Swiss army knife combo guard. His only real weaknesses are shooting and ball-handling. Dribbling isn’t too much of a problem as he likely won’t primarily run the point in his pro career. At least not yet. That being said, he shot under 30 percent from 3 his freshman year. Still, Melton is a lockdown defender with great feel, passing, feet and rebounding. After this fiasco, I wouldn’t blame him from walking away from the university.
