The New Orleans Pelicans have been up-and-down this season. While they had two stars in their frontcourt and a decent backcourt, their depth is a major issue with one going down. With the trade deadline approaching, can the Pelicans make a move to improve their roster?

The New Orleans Pelicans were in a decent spot as the All-Star break approached. However, with the 2018 NBA Trade Deadline nearing, the Pelicans find themselves still needing help after DeMarcus Cousins‘ season-ending Achilles injury. There are limited options, via either trade or buyouts, but the Pelicans do not have much to offer at the moment.

With that being said, there are a few players who are able to help, given the right scenarios present themselves. With the impending free agency of DeMarcus Cousins, the New Orleans Pelicans just may have to go all out to make this season count. However, after the Cousins’ injury, the outlook changes a bunch.

Their two big men would present matchup problems as it is. Now the Pelicans have to carry on without Boogie. However, if New Orleans added some perimeter defending and another 3-point shooter, perhaps this team advances out of the first round. On paper, the Pelicans look dangerous, but it is obvious there are some holes to fill. Another first round exit or missing the playoffs could mean the end of “Boogie” and Alvin Gentry in NOLA.

Despite this season-altering injury to one of the team’s two superstars, ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Pelicans will still be active as the Feb. 8 trade deadline approaches:

Bearing all this in mind, here are three guys the New Orleans Pelicans should consider acquiring before the deadline.
