The Indiana Pacers have been the least talked about team for potential trades, but are actually in a prime position to make a strategic improvement. Here are five crazy trades they should pursue.

While things are looking up for the Indiana Pacers, the last thing most are talking about is the potential of a marquee trade.

According to ESPN‘s Bobby Marks, however, the Pacers are one of a few teams in a great position to make a trade, as they have both cap space and a roster spot to play with. If they are willing to get creative, they can improve their current situation while simultaneously improving their future.

While Indiana has a strong basketball culture, in order to pull off most of these deals, sacrifices must be made. For instance, most of the league’s contending teams boast a marquee small forward who requires lock down perimeter defense.

Unfortunately, unless Thaddeus Young is slid down from the power forward role he has been thriving in, the Pacers would be well served to pursue a two-way small forward of their own, a co-star to the great success Victor Oladipo has found as an All-Star for Indiana this season.

But what will it cost to get that star? Gulp.

It won’t be a popular stance, but the truth is that given the still highly marketable, team-friendly asset that is Myles Turner, general manager Kevin Pritchard would be remiss to not explore what he is worth on the market, at the least.

The other trade factor to consider is that the Pacers currently roster three viable guards in Darren Collison, Cory Joseph and budding talent Joe Young. While all of those pieces are nice, there aren’t enough minutes to go around to utilize all three of them. One can be tradable.

Let’s get into it and break down five seemingly crazy trades that are worth pursuing for the Indiana Pacers before this year’s trade deadline.
