10. Jarrett Allen, Brooklyn Nets

Last week: N/A

Brooklyn Nets rookie big man Jarrett Allen cracks this week’s NBA Rookie of the Year ladder despite his team’s record. The Nets are currently 18-32, but Allen certainly isn’t playing like it. The rookie center averaged 11.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 blocks per game this past week for Brooklyn, although they went 0-3.

Allen has put up double figures scoring in the past three contests and recorded his first double-double for the Brooklyn Nets. He put up 12 points and 11 rebounds last Tuesday night in a 109-108 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s also shot a healthy 77.8 percent from the floor the past week.

The former 22nd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Texas is showing why he was so highly sought after by the Nets front office. Allen is averaging just 6.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game this season, but as his touches go up, so has his production. He hasn’t had an explosive performance yet, but he’s showing the potential is there.
