1. Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers
Last week: 2nd (↑1)
The Philadelphia 76ers continue to take the rest of the NBA by storm behind the play of rookie Ben Simmons. Simmons recorded the fifth triple-double of his career last Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls. He poured in 19 points, 17 rebounds, 14 assists and two blocks in a 115-101 victory. His rebounds and assists were one shy of tying his career-highs.
He followed that game up with a 10-of-11 shooting display to finish with 21 points along with seven assists and five rebounds against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. Philadelphia won that game as well, 97-78.

The team went 2-2 this past week but it was no fault of Simmons. He’s put up at least 20 points and seven assists in their last two contests. They’ve done well to look to Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Justin Anderson to fill the void left by the absence of J.J. Redick. They’ll need their 3-point sharpshooter soon though if they hope to turn a corner.

Simmons has set himself apart this season with his ability to keep his teammates involved, particularly big man Joel Embiid. Embiid is available tonight for his first back-to-back as well so it will be interesting to see how well the duo plays together.
