It’s been quite the week in the NBA with storylines aplenty. This week’s edition of underperformers and overachievers takes on a similar mold.

The NBA season has passed the midway point of the schedule. With the starters and reserves for both East and West squads, there was plenty to discuss this week across the league. Players are beginning to prepare for the All-Star game next month while some others have expressed their displeasure at not making a roster.

There will always be snubs in terms of the NBA All-Star Game. Some players will be favored more than others, while others never really had a shot despite what fan voting might have evidenced.

There weren’t really any surprise All-Star picks, but there were some interesting storylines that came with the week’s happenings. San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard is reportedly distant with the team and frustrated by the rehab process. Cleveland Cavaliers center Kevin Love was the center of attention in a recent players-only team meeting. The Boston Celtics are 1-4 in their last five contests.

Not to be forgotten is the performance of DeMarcus Cousins. He put up 44 points, 23 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals in a 132-128 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Cousins is playing on another level as the New Orleans Pelicans have reeled off six victories in their last seven games.

Cousins may not be on this week’s list, but his stats set the tone for this week’s edition of underperformers and overachievers.
