2. Monty Williams

When it comes to more experienced coaches that are ready to make the jump back to being a head coach in the NBA, Monty Williams is near the top of the list.

According to USA Today NBA insider Sam Amick, he could be a favorite to land the Bucks’ head coaching job.

Most recently spending time as an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2015-16 NBA season, Williams has since been out of coaching while working within the Spurs front office.

Williams began coaching in 2005, holding the title of assistant coach with the Trail Blazers until 2010, when he got his first head coaching gig. Williams went on to be the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans from 2010-15 before he was let go.

In his five seasons with the Pelicans, Williams helped the Pelicans to a combined record of 173-221 (.439 win percentage), reaching the playoffs in his first and last seasons.

Williams is a very well-respected coach around the NBA and among league executives, which could make him a very attractive candidate among front offices searching for a new head coach.

With the Bucks’ job opening looking like one of the more enticing positions around the NBA, the interest in Williams coming to Milwaukee could be mutual.
