Lou Williams, Los Angeles Clippers
Honestly, I think this is the most unlikely of all the scenarios I’m about to be present. There just isn’t really a way that works very well for the Cavaliers to acquire Lou Williams without putting another big name in the mix (more on that later).
This was about the best idea I could come up with. It seems slightly favoring the Clippers considering they get a decent prospect and extra first round pick, but the Cavaliers do yield an offensive spark plug in Williams who can help them win now. That may end up meaning more in the long run if it keeps James in Cleveland past 2018.
Brice Johnson was nothing more than a toss in. Based on what we’ve seen so far, Johnson’s potential is a tad limited, but the Cavaliers don’t have much else when it comes to youth. Either way, the Clippers get an intriguing international talent in Cedi Osman to counteract. I’m sure the extra first round pick makes losing Williams more than bearable for a team in rebuild mode.
In the end, though, the important part is getting Williams to Cleveland. By adding him, the Cavaliers suddenly have a dynamic offensive threat who can take the pressure off James, Isaiah Thomas and Kevin Love to do all the scoring.
