1. Utah Jazz

Derrick Favors could end up in a Chicago Bulls uniform by the trade deadline.

Yes, this is the rumor that was most talked about this week. It is clear at this point that the deal would be mutually beneficial for both parties, and Nikola Mirotic has even reportedly expressed an interest in playing for the Utah Jazz.

The only bad news is that Derrick Favors’ injury history might make the deal a little lopsided in favor of the Jazz. Depending on how motivated they are, perhaps Utah would cough up another asset or draft pick to seal the deal such as the super long (but often injured) Dante Exum.

A Derrick Favors move could also be seen as too lateral as both players play the same position, are the same age (26), and have similar contracts. However, with the Cleveland Cavaliers knocking at their door, the Jazz might just as soon explore other options.

The good news is that Nikola Mirotic has proven to be a highly marketable asset, and even if a deal doesn’t get done at the deadline, he should make for a solid rotation player.
