Oklahoma City Thunder, Jan. 25

The Washington Wizards face the Oklahoma City Thunder for the first time on Jan. 25. As far as contenders go, the meeting takes on a bit of importance despite residing in opposing conferences.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are 24-20 as of Jan. 17. They’re a team still searching for chemistry between their superstar trio of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. They seem to be finding their groove of late. The Thunder went 12-5 in December and are currently 4-3 in January.

On the other end, the Wizards pose their own trio of superstars in John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter. It’s been no secret this season that Beal is their best player with Wall playing second fiddle. Now, they just need to add Porter to the mix.

This is the game where fans should look for Porter to play a bigger role on the offensive side of things for the Wizards. Porter is averaging 13.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season, but he can still do a whole lot more when given the opportunity. The matchup certainly favors some extra looks to Porter on the perimeter. He’ll just need to capitalize on them.
