3. Luke Babbitt, Atlanta Hawks

Despite limited opportunity, Luke Babbitt has again demonstrated himself to be among the elite marksmen in the league.

Following a season in which he started 55 games for the Miami Heat, Babbitt was signed by the Atlanta Hawks in the offseason to provide depth to a team that had been severely depleted in recent seasons.

For a while this season, Babbitt was flourishing in his new surroundings, featuring a stretch of nine games averaging 11.8 points in 26.9 minutes per game, where he shot at a 52.1 percent clip from long range on 5.2 attempts per game. Starting in seven of these nine games, Babbitt was a +17 while on the floor during this time.

Since then, things haven’t been quite as rosy, with Babbitt appearing in just 14 games, averaging 4.6 points in 13.6 minutes per game. Furthermore, he has also received nine Did Not Play – Coach’s Decisions since his early hot start, thus indicating he’s clearly fallen out of favor with head coach Mike Budenholzer.

Overall, Babbitt is shooting at a 43.2 percent clip from 3-point range, slightly above his career mark of 40.8 percent. As a modern-day stretch-4, Babbitt not provides the ability to extend the defense by stretching the floor, but also has proven himself to be a more than capable defender, handling players on both the perimeter and down low.

Hitting at a 42.3 percent clip on catch-and-shoot 3s, Babbitt would provide a terrific boost to a Sixers team that ranks 24th on catch-and-shoot 3s at 36.2 percent.

For the Hawks, they would receive up-and-coming swingman Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, currently in his second season and averaging 6.1 points in 15.9 minutes per game. For a team in a rebuild, adding the second-year Frenchman represents a wise investment.

Ultimately, Babbitt’s would provide the Sixers will a tremendous shooting option coming off the bench, a boon for a team currently ranked 20th in 3-point shooting at 35.8 percent.
