The Cleveland Cavaliers hit a rough stretch, with three straight disturbing losses. Here are three trends that emerged from those games.

An abysmal stretch for the Cleveland Cavaliers has fans scratching their heads while calling for that of head coach Tyronn Lue. The three defeats were littered with pathetic play, marred by miserable moments and questionable coaching decisions.

Not even the savviest of soothsayers could have predicted this — LeBron James and the Cavaliers dropping three games in a row in January, with two of them by 25-plus points.

The losses knock Cleveland to a jarring seven games behind the Boston Celtics in the standings and 3.5 behind the Toronto Raptors. The red-hot Miami Heat are now nipping at their heels in fourth place, 1.5 games back.

As stunning as it may be, trends from the Cavaliers’ recent losses are emerging. They are both a cause for alarm, as well a road map to turning the season around.

If Cleveland is going to right the ship, it must make sure the three-game stretch is a wakeup call, not a microcosm for its season. Here are three trends that emerged from the losses.
