Alec Burks

Another player that could be on the move this season in Utah is guard Alec Burks.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday that Burks is a name that many teams around the league are monitoring and asking about as the trade deadline continues to inch closer. There haven’t been any reports of talks between Utah and other teams involving Burks, like there have been with Derrick Favors, but the fact that teams are targeting Burks says enough.

Burks is having a nice bounce-back year this season after somewhat of a disappointing 2016-17 campaign. The guard is averaging 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.4 minutes per game.

The biggest reason for the new found success? Burks is finally healthy, which he hasn’t been able to say for really most of his career. Burks could be a nice bench piece on a contending team or could even slide into a bigger role on a rebuilding team during the second half of the year.

The 26-year-old has one year left remaining on his contract following this season, set to make a decent amount of $11.5 million in 2018-19. One of the reasons the Jazz could look to move him before the deadline this season is to unload his contract and the fact that he is the fifth-highest paid player on the current Jazz roster.
