Derrick Favors

Derrick Favors’ name is a name that has been thrown around in trade ideas over the past year or so, but this season, those rumors and ideas might have more steam than ever before.

Favors, who is currently in the final year of his contract in Utah, is likely to walk following the season. That could persuade the Jazz to get something in return for Favors, as well as the fact that an expiring contract could be appealing to a majority of teams around the league.

The 26-year-old forward is averaging 12.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game. Favors is also having a career-best year shooting the ball, holding a career-high 55.1 percent from the field, while shooting the most 3s per game of his career and recording a career-best 73 percent shooting mark from the free throw line.

Favors, who is in his eighth year in the league this season, could be a valuable piece for a team looking for a solid post presence during the second half of the regular season.

One team that has jumped out as favorites to land Favors has been the Chicago Bulls, who are interested in shipping out Nikola Mirotic in exchange for Favors.

Favors finding his way out of Utah seems to be very likely before the Feb. 8 deadline.
