Although this is year six of the Orlando Magic‘s prolonged rebuild, part of the reason they are still in this position is of their own doing.
Sure, former general manager Rob Hennigan deserves a lot of the blame, and most of what you’re about to see was his fault. But the evaluation of talent within the organization rests not just on his shoulders, and so the Magic need to look at themselves when they think about the players they let go.
Although another high lottery pick is coming their way, and there is a new front office who hopes to put it to better use, if the team had held onto some former players they could be in playoff contention right now.
Not that all the salaries would have fit together, but there are some players out there on different teams the Magic could do with right now.
There are a variety of reasons they are currently needed, with the theme that ties them all together being they are no longer playing in Orlando.
