The Portland Trail Blazers don’t have a G League affiliate team of their own but they still have sent three of their guys down to the G League this season.
There are currently 26 NBA G League teams spread out across America. Those 26 teams are all paired with an NBA team. Since not every team has a G League affiliate of their own, they can send their guys to whatever team has available space at that time.
The Blazers have three guys in the NBA’s G League: Wade Baldwin IV, Caleb Swanigan and C.J. Wilcox. Baldwin and Wilcox were signed to two-way contracts this past summer.
According to the G League website, here’s what being on a two-way contract means:
"“NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.”"
Lets check in with them and see how the Blazers’ G League prospects are doing.
