5. The hot start

It might seem obvious to point out, but when the Magic are winning games and having fun doing it, they are a lot of fun to watch.

The beginning of this season began in that way, and after four campaigns out of the last five ending with less than 30 wins, it was great to see.

The team started out the season 6-2, and although it was hardly like the Dwight Howard days of routinely beating playoff regulars, it was the closest this version of the team has come to it.

The Magic hammered the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs, Aaron Gordon was leading the league in 3-point shooting and they had smiles on their faces while they did it.

It was short-lived, sure, but it was a reminder to Magic fans that when this team finds their feet again, they are going to be a lot of fun to get behind.

2017 was also the year the team changed with the league in terms of becoming more comfortable hoisting 3s and trying to defend opponents beyond the paint.

We may not see a mini-run like that for a while, but 2018 is a long year and encapsulates the first two or so months of next season, which is worth remembering when times get even tougher.
