The Milwaukee Bucks have a roster imbalance
The Milwaukee Bucks are a young talented team. The problem is they are unbalanced and it will cost them.
The Milwaukee Bucks needed to make a change early in the season. The play from the point guard position was not good enough to have them competing with the teams at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Malcolm Brogdon has good numbers offensively, but lets his opponent score or distribute too easily. Matthew Dellavedova has a great work ethic and is a high level defender, but hasn’t shown enough during his time with the Bucks to make anyone believe he is a starting point guard in this league.
Then the trade was made to send Greg Monroe to the Phoenix Suns in return for Eric Bledsoe. At first this move looked like a massive win for the Bucks. Due to Bledsoe’s creativity on offense, John Henson became the starting center.
This shored up the Bucks’ starting defense and they were winning games. The problem is, the Bucks are now losing too many games against lower ranked teams. This is understandable, but frustrating at the same time.
These losses are going to hurt the Bucks in the long, 82-game NBA season. There are many reasons why stronger teams lose to lower ranked opponents. Sometimes, teams match up really well against others or players can be injured or rested.
However, this is not the problem for the Bucks. They are able to get themselves into the right headspace against the best teams and put up good performances. This also leads to mental letdowns against weaker teams as the frontcourt is fatiguing due to the workload it is being asked to shoulder.
