The Orlando Magic’s season has gone from bad to worse. Here are five New Year’s resolutions to get them back on track.
Despite renewed optimism around the Orlando Magic heading into this season, the wheels have once more come off the franchise.
Unlike in years gone by when dodgy coaching and a bumbling front office were largely to blame, this time out it has been an unfortunate mix that has brought them down.
The injury bug has been by far their biggest concern, with all of their starting five players missing time at some point this season already.
Other factors include the defense not being where people thought it would be, and an offense that started the season scorching hot but has regressed as expected as time wore on. All of these things have converged to put the Magic at 12-24, giving them the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference behind only the Atlanta Hawks.
Clearly then, changes need to be made heading into 2018, but that push for the playoffs many hoped for already seems dead in the water.
Instead, this team must focus on the small victories in anticipation for next season, and take comfort in the fact a high lottery pick is likely coming its way once more.
With all of this in mind, here are five New Year’s resolutions for the Magic as they seek to make the final two-thirds of their season better than the first.
