2. Ride 3-point shooting

If defense wins championships, the offense is the foundation you build those championships on. The Pistons are shooting the lights out this season. They are only averaging 102.8 points a game, but Detroit isn’t heaping all the offensive work on one person. The team is spreading the offensive responsibilities around which makes scouting the team difficult.

Even without Avery Bradley in the lineup, the Detroit Pistons are still ranked seventh in the NBA in 3-point shooting.

The Pistons finished 28th in percentage and 26th in 3-point attempts last season. Tobias Harris is leading the Pistons’ drive in the 3-point bonanza.

He is having the best season of his career. Harris leads the team in scoring average with 18.1 points per game and is on track to be named to his first All-Star team.

Stan Van Gundy discussed Harris’ shooting style with NBA.com’s Keith Langlois.

"“We’ve tried to make it an emphasis and I think certainly Tobias has been one who’s done a really good job of that. You’re either going to give him that shot or you’re going to have to get up on him and create driving angles for him.”"

When a team is ranked 15th in offensive rating and 13th in defensive rating, the opportunity to win games will be there.
