The Washington Wizards should enter Christmas Day with a renewed focus against the Boston Celtics. Here’s a look at three matchups to keep an eye on.

The Washington Wizards are 17-14 entering Christmas Day. They are coming off a needed victory Saturday night over the Orlando Magic, 130-103. On Friday night, they suffered arguably their worst loss of the season to the Brooklyn Nets, falling 119-84. With the Boston Celtics on the schedule, they enter must-win territory although it’s still early in the season.

Their 130 points against Orlando were a season-high for the team, after scoring 84 points the previous night. It wasn’t a season-low for them either, as they put up just 69 points back on Dec. 4 in a loss to the Utah Jazz. Even then, fans thought the ugly losses were behind this team, but injuries continue to slow down their progress.

The Washington Wizards are 6-5 in the month of the December and 4-2 since John Wall returned to the lineup with a sore knee on Dec. 13. They still seem to be figuring things out, although their bench has been much improved behind the play of Mike Scott.

The Wizards haven’t quite been the best team in the East as they are 7-8 against teams in their conference this season. Here’s a look at three matchups to keep an eye on as their game against Boston should have a playoff feel to it before all is said and done.
