Last season Malcolm Brogdon of the Milwaukee Bucks won Rookie of the Year. This year he has been relegated to the bench. Let’s see how this is impacting his effectiveness.

Last year, in a history filled season, Malcolm Brogdon did something special. The point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks won Rookie of the Year after being a second round pick. This is a feat which has never been accomplished before.

Watching the second-year player is still quite fun, but the start of the season showed the Bucks had some issues. Brogdon was never going to take enough pressure off team leader Giannis Antetokounmpo.

This would mean the Bucks would always be a playoff team but would not really challenge the best teams in the conference over a seven-game series. However, all of this changed when the Bucks traded for Eric Bledsoe.

The disgruntled Phoenix Suns point guard needed a new team. The Bucks needed a starting-caliber point guard. It was a match made in heaven.

The arrival of Bledsoe meant there was a great deal of shuffling in the Bucks backcourt, but the bottom line was Brogdon had a new role as first man off the bench. He was also going to get minutes alongside the new starting point guard.

This change in role and position was always going to impact his numbers, but it showed Brogdon to be a chameleon, having the ability to change his game to what the team needed at the time.
